I am still reading the Bible from beginning to end. But, a few weeks ago, I had an overwhelming desire to want to read the account of Jesus’ life… in chronological order!
Each of the four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – cover Jesus’ life. But, in order to get a full picture, you have to read all four. This is because each author chose to elaborate on – or include the events – they deemed of most importance. Some events may appear in three out of the four gospel accounts, others may appear in only one… you get the picture.
I searched and found a site which listed out every single verse pertaining to Jesus’ life, ministry, crucifixion and resurrection in order. There are over 200 bullet points! I’ve been taking those and grouping them together to form a daily plan. (I’m still not finished, but I’ve decided to start this post now, and will update later.)

While this study means I’ll be jumping ahead to the New Testament, I first need to touch on the Old…

A quick note: As mentioned, I’m simultaneously reading the Old Testament and, I’ll be honest. When I came to Leviticus about a month ago, I was tempted to skip that book. Luckily, I landed on the following quote from KnowableWord.com:
“When evaluating the importance of a book of the Bible, we often turn to characters, events, or doctrines. Leviticus doesn’t shine in any of these areas.
Rather, the book of Leviticus exists to answer a crucial question: How can a holy God dwell with sinful people?
[Through] the forgiveness of sin.“
This point is so simple, yet so huge. And this is why it is important to continue to study the Old Testament because – among other things – it makes glaringly clear: God’s standard, the weight of sin and what is required to reconcile the repentant. That requirement has always been sacrifice and, under the old covenant, that looked a certain way. But, we are under a new covenant in which Jesus has made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Old Testament gives us an understanding of judgment and condemnation which is foundational if we’re ever going to truly grasp the gift of grace, mercy and salvation.
Our salvation is found in Jesus Christ who – being truly God, truly man – was: prophesied about throughout the Old Testament, came to the earth in the form of a baby, carried out His earthly ministry, was crucified on the cross and resurrected after three days. He is our Savior, and all who believe in Him are covered by His blood.
