Faith Links

I will continually update this page with links to content which I have found extremely helpful in enhancing or confirming my understanding. I’ll try to make note when a link is specific to my doctrinal beliefs!

The Bible Study with Steven Lawson

I am so grateful for this Bible Study. As I was searching for understanding on how to properly vet pastors and churches, I came across a podcast which described expository teaching and mentioned Steven Lawson as one of the best and most trusted. He has two streams on Spotify, but I began listening to the “Bible Study,” which actually turned out to be a men’s group. (Lol!) Because, he is simply preaching the Bible – and not necessarily diving into issues specific to men – I continued to listen and it has impacted me phenomenally!

If you are just coming out from under false-teachings, I would suggest starting with his study of the Sermon on the Mount. He begins with the Beatitudes. “Matthew 5:1-2 The Greatest Sermon Ever Preached”

I would also recommend the study on 1 John. Study begins with episode titled: “1 John 4:3-6 False Prophets & True Preachers”

[Update]

Matt Chandler’s Sermon

This is the sermon that was sent to me by a friend. I watched it after God convicted me to leave my church. This sermon is so powerful, covering: the Gospel, our purpose as Believers, and how we are to read the Bible.

Side Note: I am only vouching for this sermon, as I am not in the loop with this pastor’s current preaching.

“Biblical Sacrifice: From Old Covenant to Christ’s Redemption

This article from BibleJournalingDigitally.com gives a detailed explanation of Old Covenant means of repentance and offering, and the ultimate sacrifice found in Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.

“What Denomination Am I?” Christian Denomination Quiz

In my opinion, this quiz from denominationdifferences.com is leagues above the others. I will say that I wish certain questions were worded a bit differently (ie. the question about Baptism), but overall it covers a lot of ground. I only got through the first 12 questions, but jotted down the topics of the first 30. That means that I have at least 18 more topics to explore. I may already know where I stand on some of them, while others will give me a chance to search Scripture. Always let the Holy Spirit lead you in your study of Scripture.

In my prayer time with God, He reminds me often that I don’t need to know everything. Some things will be unveiled and revealed as I grow in my faith. Other topics may be ones that I humbly solidify an opinion on, but must be open to being wrong. (ie. the timeline in which the events in Revelation unfold.)

Knowing where you stand on these topics will: help you to understand where denominations differ; aid in your conversation with Believers and unbelievers; and help you to be discerning when it comes to your church home.

All Beliefs – Denomination Differences

This denominations chart from denominationdifferences.com is COMPREHENSIVE. Enough said!

“What is the difference between exegesis and eisegesis?”

This article from GotQuestions.org does a great job illustrating Exegesis vs. Eisegesis.

“A Complete List of Events in the Life of Jesus”

This post from InteractiveLifeofJesus.com was published in 2008 and is a gem of a find! There are many graphics on the web which claim to list all the verses pertaining to Jesus’ life and ministry. But, this post is the only one I’ve come across which actually does so. There are 229 bullet points complete with section headers.

What Does the Bible Say about Giving?

An amazing article from BibleStudyTools.com which explores – and clears up misconceptions surrounding – giving, tithing and more.
